Murmur Library is a decolonial community lending library dedicated to creating a space where diverse voices and narratives thrive beyond the constraints of the white gaze.

Our curated collection celebrates the richness of Black, Indigenous, and culturally diverse perspectives, offering poetry, fiction, non-fiction, children’s literature, zines, and magazines.

By prioritizing these voices, we aim to challenge systemic inequities in literature, foster a richer cultural dialogue, and cultivate connection and resistance through storytelling.

Founded in 2021, Murmur Library emerged from the urgent need for safe, inclusive spaces built by and for underrepresented communities, reflecting critical research and statistics that have highlighted the persistent underrepresentation of First Nations and culturally diverse authors in the Australian publishing industry.

Grounded in the understanding that literature is both a mirror and a tool for change, Murmur Library challenges the systemic inequities of the literary space and is a living testament to the transformative power of collective storytelling, community care, and creativity in shaping a future defined by equity, understanding, and shared humanity.
